Falcons favored over the Raiders in Monday night matchupNAPLES, Fla. (AP) — Narin An handled the windy conditions with a hot putter on Thursday, making four straight birdies around the turn and finishing with an 8-under 64 for a one-shot lead in the CME Group Tour Championship. At stake for the 60-player field is a $4 million prize to the winner, the largest single-day payoff in women’s golf. Nelly Korda already has won more than that during her sterling season of seven wins. Now she faces an eight-shot deficit over the next three days at Tiburon Golf Club if she wants to end her year in fitting fashion. Korda, coming off a victory last week, couldn’t make amends for her three bogeys and had to settle for an even-par 72. She has come from behind in four of her victories, and still has 54 holes ahead of her. But it has made the task that much tougher. Everything felt easy for An, a 28-year-old from South Korea who has never won on the LPGA and has never cracked the top 10 in any of the 16 majors she has played. “Today my putt really good,” An said. “The speed was good and the shape was good. I just try to focus a little bit more.” She had a one-shot lead over Angel Yin, who shot 30 on the back nine, including an eagle on the par-5 17th hole that most players can easily reach in two. Former U.S. Women’s Open champion Allisen Corpuz and Marina Alex were at 66, with Lydia Ko leading the group at 67. Despite the wind so typical along the Gulf Coast of Florida, 27 players — nearly half the field — shot in the 60s. “It’s a good head start for the big ol’ prize we get at the end of the week,” Yin said. Whoever wins last week is assured of breaking the 17-year-old LPGA record for most money earned in season. The record was set by Lorena Ochoa in 2007 at $4,364,994, back when the total prize money was about half of what it is now. Ochoa earned $1 million for winning the Tour Championship in 2007. The opening round followed a big night of awards for the LPGA Tour, where Korda officially picked up her first award as player of the year, which she clinched earlier this month . Ko was recognized for her big year, highlighted by an Olympic gold medal that put her into the LPGA Hall of Fame. She regained plenty of focus for the opening round on a course where she won just two years ago. “The course isn’t easy,” Ko said. “I set a goal of shooting 3 under today, and somebody shot 8 under. I was like, ‘OK, maybe I need to make a few more birdies.’ It’s a course that can get away from you as much as you can shoot some low scores, so I’m just trying to stick to my game plan and go from there.” Also in the group at 67 was Albane Valenzuela of Switzerland, already celebrating a big year with her debut in the Solheim Cup and her first appearance in the Tour Championship. She made a late run at her first LPGA title last week at Pelican Golf Club, and kept up her form. And she can see the finish line, which is appealing. “I everyone is looking at that $4 million price tag,” Valenzuela said. “I try not to look too much at the result. I feel like in the past I’ve always been stuck on results, and ultimately all I can do is control my own round, my own energy, my own commitment. “It’s the last week of the year. It’s kind of the bonus week. No matter what, everyone is having a paycheck.” AP golf: https://apnews.com/hub/golfiShares Select Dividend ETF Sees Unusually Large Options Volume (NASDAQ:DVY)

By John Ogunsemore Presidential spokesman, Daniel Bwala has no iota of shame, Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said. Ibe said this in an X post on Sunday following Bwala’s recent allegation that some television guests and anchors were conspiring against him. Bwala’s appointment as a presidential spokesman had stirred controversy both within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition circles, given his former role as Official Spokesperson of the 2023 PDP Presidential Campaign. In an X post on Sunday, Bwala said, “When you come against an overwhelming conspiracy of some television guests and anchors against you pushing an agenda and you are helpless; just pray to your God. He will expose them for who they are. It has started.” In his response, Ibe said Bwala conspired against his own integrity and dignity for the sake of his stomach. He said, “Shut up, Daniel Bwala! If you had any iota of shame, you wouldn’t be eating your own vomit. Or is this the case of the hand of Daniel and the voice of Bwala? “You are the master of conspiracy. For the sake of your stomach, you conspired against your own integrity and dignity. You are damn right about God exposing humans for who they are in the fullness of time. God has already exposed you as a duplicitous, ‘double-faced infernal traitor and schemer’.”
The Secular Constitution Protection Forum and speakers at a meeting organised by it on Sunday (November 24, 2024) demanded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP) to oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill. Also Read: Govt lists 15 bills including Waqf bill for winter session of Parliament Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K. Ramakrishna said that the proposed bill was a threat to democracy. It was designed to divide the voters on religious lines. The Waqf Bill contains very dangerous amendments, he said. “The government is asserting that non-Hindus should not be serving in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) while at the same time saying Hindus should be in the Waqf Board, calling it unjust. Home Minister Amit Shah is in a tearing hurry to pass the bill before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report even reached Parliament. The government, which rejected the Sachar Committee recommendations in the past, is now claiming to implement them, raising doubts, he said. Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao said that the CPI(M) had opposed the Waqf Bill both inside and outside Parliament. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s policies were not favourable to even Hindus and are creating divisions among castes. There was a need for a special law to protect the properties of temples, mosques, and churches, he said. Former Minister Vadde Shobanadreeswara Rao stated that since the Waqf Board is under the Concurrent List, the opinions of the States must also be considered. “Why is the Election Commission not taking action against leaders who make provocative statements about giving Muslim reservations to SCs and STs?” he asked. “It is strange for a political leader, who once admired Che Guevara to now speak about Sanatana Dharma,” he said. “Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan should listen to Swami Vivekananda’s speech on religious tolerance.” Jamat-e-Islami Hind State president Rafiq Ahmad, Ahl-e-Hadith Jamaat State president Fazlur Rahman Umri, Sunnatul Jamaat president Mukhtiyar, Majlisul Ulema president Mufti Younus, Muslim Unity Forum president Jafar Puli, Secular Constitution Protection Forum Vijayawada Urban convener Abdul Mateen, and others spoke. Shiba Inu ($SHIB) Burning Tokens A-Plenty With FEED Update SHIB looks ready to race back into the crypto top 10 as its price rallied 0.67% in the last 24 hours to hit $0.000024. In the last week, Shiba Inu has in fact lost over 3.4%, but this is only to be expected after this famously volatile meme coin put in an incredible 35% monthly candle recently. Shiba Inu is the second-largest meme coin in the crypto space after Dogecoin, with a fiercely loyal following and a history of surprising the market with the strength of its moves. Recently, on-chain analytics detected that 1.67 trillion SHIB tokens were withdrawn from exchanges in just 24 hours. The last time the supply on exchanges fell like this, Shiba Inu went on to pump 62%. The WoofsSwap team has just unveiled a new token burning mechanism on the Shibarium with the introduction of a new token by the name of FEED. When a new token is created using a FEED contract, Shiba Inu is burned as a result of the minting process. This is incredibly bullish for the ecosystem and will result in a massively decreased number of SHIB tokens hitting the market. This can only be a good thing for price action, which looks set to explode upward during the next season of meme mania. (AP) — Republican senators pushed back on Sunday against criticism from Democrats that Tulsi Gabbard , Donald Trump's pick to lead U.S. intelligence services , is “compromised” by her comments supportive of Russia and secret meetings , as a congresswoman, with Syria’s president, a close ally of the Kremlin and Iran. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, an Illinois Democrat and veteran of combat missions in Iraq, said she had concerns about Tulsi Gabbard, Trump's choice to be director of national intelligence . “I think she’s compromised," Duckworth said on CNN’s “State of the Union," citing Gabbard's 2017 trip to Syria, where she held talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad. Gabbard was a Democratic House member from Hawaii at the time. “The U.S. intelligence community has identified her as having troubling relationships with America’s foes. And so my worry is that she couldn’t pass a background check,” Duckworth said. Gabbard, who said last month she is joining the Republican Party, has served in the Army National Guard for more than two decades. She was deployed to Iraq and Kuwait and, according to the Hawaii National Guard, received a Combat Medical Badge in 2005 for “participation in combat operations under enemy hostile fire in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III." Duckworth's comments drew immediate backlash from Republicans. “For her to say ridiculous and outright dangerous words like that is wrong," Sen. Markwayne Mullin, a Republican from Oklahoma, said on CNN, challenging Duckworth to retract her words. “That’s the most dangerous thing she could say — is that a United States lieutenant colonel in the United States Army is compromised and is an asset of Russia.” In recent days, other Democrats have accused Gabbard without evidence of being a “Russian asset.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, has claimed, without offering details, that Gabbard is in Russian President Vladimir “Putin’s pocket.” Mullin and others say the criticism from Democrats is rooted in the fact that Gabbard left their party and has become a Trump ally. Democrats say they worry that Gabbard's selection as national intelligence chief endangers ties with allies and gives Russia a win. Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat just elected to the Senate, said he would not describe Gabbard as a Russian asset, but said she had “very questionable judgment.” “The problem is if our foreign allies don’t trust the head of our intelligence agencies, they’ll stop sharing information with us,” Schiff said on NBC's “Meet the Press.” Gabbard in 2022 endorsed one of Russia’s justifications for invading Ukraine : the existence of dozens of U.S.-funded biolabs working on some of the world’s nastiest pathogens. The labs are part of an international effort to control outbreaks and stop bioweapons, but Moscow claimed Ukraine was using them to create deadly bioweapons. Gabbard said she just voiced concerns about protecting the labs. Gabbard also has suggested that Russia had legitimate security concerns in deciding to invade Ukraine, given its desire to join NATO. Republican Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri said he thought it was “totally ridiculous” that Gabbard was being cast as a Russian asset for having different political views. “It’s insulting. It’s a slur, quite frankly. There’s no evidence that she’s a asset of another country,” he said on NBC. Sen. James Lankford, another Oklahoma Republican, acknowledged having “lots of questions” for Gabbard as the Senate considers her nomination to lead the intelligence services. Lankford said on NBC that he wants to ask Gabbard about her meeting with Assad and some of her past comments about Russia. “We want to know what the purpose was and what the direction for that was. As a member of Congress, we want to get a chance to talk about past comments that she’s made and get them into full context,” Lankford said.

Expanding the College Football Playoff has only inflated, not tempered, weekly outrage over rankingsRangers 1-1 Tottenham PLAYER RATINGS: Who played his heart out? Which superstar was hooked at half-time? Who won the managerial battle? Click here to visit the Scotland home page for the latest news and sport By PAUL FORSYTH Published: 22:57, 12 December 2024 | Updated: 23:18, 12 December 2024 e-mail 60 shares View comments A second-half equaliser by substitute Dejan Kulusevski denied Rangers a famous victory over Tottenham in a breathless Europa League Battle of Britain at Ibrox. Hamza Igamane gave the courageous Scottish Premiership side a deserved lead just after the interval and piled pressure on under-fire Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou . But the Australian made a flurry of substitutions and rescued a valuable point at the ground where he had many a battle during two years as the manager of Celtic . With 11 points from six games, both sides are on course to reach the knockout stage, but it was Rangers who took most of the credit from a compelling encounter, especially as they look ahead to Sunday's Premier Sports Cup final against Celtic. Paul Forsyth analyses the individual performances on both sides. Hamza Igamane celebrates his goal with Nicolas Raskin in Rangers' 1-1 draw with Tottenham Rangers winger Vaclav Cerny posed a threat throughout their Europa League match at Ibrox Spurs keeper Fraser Forster made several big saves, including one that denied Cyriel Dessers RANGERS Jack Butland - 7 Strong and alert. Denied Porro and Johnson with his body, although he was wrong-footed by the equaliser. James Tavernier - 7 His cross set up Igamane’s goal. For all the questions about his defensive ability, he was diligent in the tackle. John Souttar - 5 Solid start but pulled up with no-one around him and hobbled off before half-time. A worry ahead of the cup final. Robin Propper - 7 Might have been unsettled by Souttar’s departure but stuck to the task, kept his position and made some key blocks. Jefte - 6 Got forward well and swung in some lovely crosses. Nearly beat his own goalkeeper with a misjudged header. Nicolas Raskin - 8 Another dynamic, hard-working dislay in which he covered every blade of grass. Played his heart out. Mohamed Diomande - 6 Bright and positive. Had a shot deflected just wide. Booked for a handball, he will miss Rangers’ next Europa game. Vaclav Cerny - 8 Took on his opponents at will, cut inside and frequently got shots away. Twice had angled efforts parried by the keeper. Nedim Bajrami - 7 Seemed to enjoy the No 10 role. Had a crisp shot tipped over, but inexplicably pulled out when Jefte laid one on a plate. Ridvan Yilmaz - 7 Deployed wide on the left, high up the pitch, the full-back was a bright, lively presence. Also carried a goal threat. Hamza Igamane - 7 Had great, quick feet through the middle. A little lacking in physicality but took his chance superbly well. Philippe Clement - 8 One or two surprise selections were proved right. Could not have got more from his players. SUBSTITUTES: Balogun (Souttar, 35), Barron (Bahrami, 68), Sterling (Cerny, 68), Dessers (Igamane, 79), Fraser (Yilmaz 80). Not used: Kelly, Cortes, Dowell, King, McCausland, Rice, Curtis TOTTENHAM Fraser Forster - 8 Jeered throughout, the former Celtic keeper had a busy night. The pick of several saves was the late one to deny Dessers. Pedro Porro - 6 Lost his bearings for the goal, allowing Igamane space to score. Drew a fine save from Butland with an angled shot. Archie Gray - 7 So smooth and composed on the ball that he was almost over-confident, losing possession at times. Radu Dragusin - 7 A strong, physical presence, but he was stretched, most notably when he was booked for pulling back Yilmaz. Destiny Udogie - 6 Given an uncomfortable time by Cerny in the first half. Was dragged out of position a bit too easily. Rodrigo Bentancur - 6 Serving a seven-match ban from domestic football, his return to the fray didn’t really have the desired impact. Y ves Bissouma - 7 Made plenty of safe, successful passes but the midfield was much more intense after he was subsituted. James Maddison - 7 Showed more ambition than his team-mates, roaming the midfield and trying his luck from distance. Brennan Johnson - 6 Never took full advantage of an open game. Had one big chance, but he failed to wrap his foot round it. Son Heung-min - 6 The captain and key striker had a quiet night. Rarely got a sight of goal, even when his team upped their game. Timo Werner- 4 Despite curling an early shot over, never got going, lost confidence and made poor decisions. Subbed at half-time. Ange Postecoglou - 6 Must be worried that that his team lacked intensity but his subs made a big difference. SUBSTITUTES: Kulusevski (Werner, 46), Solanke (Johnson, 60), Sarr (Bentancur, 60), Bergvall (Bissoume, 60).
